Shade resistant Solar power from National Semiconductor (New Prod. & Tech.) National Semiconductor Corp. is entering the photovoltaic market with new technology designed to increase the overall energy output of solar electric power generating systems. National's SolarMagic™ technology extracts the maximum power efficiency of each photovoltaic panel, even when some panels in the array are compromised by shading, debris or inherent panel-to-panel mismatch. According to the company, this technology recovers up to 50% of energy lost in this way. REgrid Power, Inc., one of the largest solar installers in California, is currently testing the technology. National Semiconductor plans to introduce the product for solar installers and system providers later this year. (Source: PR Newswire, June 30, '08)
